BOWLING OR NOT BOWLING

No pictures today! It was bowling in Peterborough. All girls thought that the activity would start at 4:00, and there we were, at the school entrance door, when we discovered that there were no boys. So, have they all run away without us? These selfish boys, who want to do bowling only by themselves! So, every girl was indignant. After a while, the boys turned up. They were very upset and complained about the girls who had run away from the activity, just because what they really like doing is shopping and shopping, and nothing else! One of the English teachers came in and reminded everybody that bowling had started one hour before, at 3:00, and so all the girls had missed the thing. Well, next time, we’ll do it better!

HeLlOo!!!

Hello, we are Paloma and Irene. We write from our host home, we are living with a old woman, she cooks very good =) Last Monday we went to London, it's exciting. We enjoyed a lot the Big Ben and the London Eye, the views were gorgeous. When we get off of the big wheel we get on a ship in the Tamesis river so we could see a lot of things of London. We didn't go to the Madam Tussauds museum but we will go next Saturday.

Yesterday we visited the Peterborough's cathedral, it's very beautiful and it's where is buried Catherine of Aragon. Then, we went to taste the cream tea that is very elegant. We didn't like it too much but we tasted it.

Today we have had an activity, we had to ask questions to the people of the village for complete the quiz, later you had to give it to the secretary of the academy for correct them. It was like a gymkhana.
Tomorrow we will go bowling and on Saturday we go to London again.
See you soon!! bye!! =D

STUDENTS IN CLASS

Students acting in a role play

Not everything consists of having fun and rock and roll. We, students, also work, and not only sometimes, but EVERY DAY! Our teachers are Sally and Penny. They are really demanding, even more than ours at our school in Montequinto. We will be evaluated, and consequently, hard work is expected from us.

hello!

Hi! We are Saray, Mar and Marta.

This Monday we went to London. In the morning we got on the train that took us from Peterborough to London. Then we got on the underground which left us in the center of the city. The underground is really very big.
We saw a lot of things, but the most beautiful was got on in the London Eye, where we can see some wonderful views, Big Ben, we saw the changes of the guard, too.

Today we had gone to Peterborough's Cathedral and then we had gone to Cream Tea. We had a good time.

Por fin, estamos comiendo bastante bien, por las mananas comemos cereales y tambien tostadas, ya que le dijimos que si podiamos tomarlas.

Muchos besiitos para todos.

LONDON AT LAST!

At Harry Potter's spot in King's Cross tube station

Here we are in London in a long tiring day. We did everything it could be done in a single day: walking all central London, the West End and its theatres, the Soho, Piccadilly Circus, Piccadilly Road and Green Park.

As it is expected from any good tourist we didn’t miss the Change of the Royal Guard with band of music included.

We split up at Trafalgar Square and each one went to have lunch to a place of preference. We, the teachers, chose a nice traditional old pub where we had a no less traditional meal of fish and chips. Our students, as it goes with their age, selected a great variety of hamburgers in one of the nearest McDonalds. In this way we were all happy and fed.

Once lunch was over we took our way to the London Eye, passing by the Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. The weather was excellent, especially for us, as we were expected that day in the city!

Now, we stood up in the London Eye, all the city surrendered at our feet. So important we felt! The sun was shinning, the birds singing and some little clouds were passing by, now and then. Uhmmm is that happiness?

After our celestial ascension, we took a boat and sailed to the Tower of London, that terrible fortress where traitors were imprisoned, tortured or finally executed, and where now the Queen of England keeps all the Royal Jewels. Form there, a beautiful sight of Tower Bridge could be seen.

Back home, in complete exhaustion, we climbed to our beds and slept like angels.

PUNTING ON THE RIVER CAM

Here we are taking part in one of the most traditional activities of Cambridge: punting on the river Cam. And, you may wonder: what does punting consist of? Well, you just hold a very large stick and get it deep into the water, and using all your strength, you try to move the boat along the river. I really tell you, you need to be very skilled to succeed your way through all these boats on the river without making a disaster of it all, and not ending smashed against the nearest wall! That’s why we decided to use the skills of two very handsome young men who did it for us! Yes, handsome: one of them, blonde hair, blue eyes and a wonderful educated Cambridge accent in his English: handsome until such an extent that our girls were talking in English to him, without even knowing they were doing it!

CAMBRIDGE

Hola a todos!

Hoy hemos estado en Cambridge, ciudad famosa por sus universidades (colleges). Hemos paseado en barca por el rio Cam y hemos pateado sus calles medievales. Los ninos estan encantados.!Todo en orden, todo bien!

Yes, we’ve been to Cambridge: the town where one of the most ancient universities of England stands, like Salamanca in Spain. We were taken along the city by Jim: a very nice man with a great knowledge about the city and its history. He showed us some of Cambridge colleges where students live and study. Our boys and girls went into huge old dinning rooms panelled in wood with high stained glass windows and great fireplaces. We also visited very old libraries with ceilings as high as those of a cathedral. We stepped through quiet yards and grounds and saw quiet students all over the places. Making a noise was absolutely forbidden in these places, and our boys and girls managed to remain silent all the time.

Do you know who was one of the most reputed students in Cambridge? Isaac Newton! He didn’t have enough money to pay for his studies and had to work to keep himself at the university.

Do you also know that seven of the Nobel Prizes came from Cambridge University?

In Cambridge there are three very important doors for the students: the first one is the Humility door, through which each student has to pass during his first stage at the university. The second one is the door of Importance where students pass in the middle of their studies, and the third one is the Honour door through which one passes after his or her graduation. This door is very very small and low.

Stamford

Sorry about our spelling mistake! The place we're going is Stamford, so that this is what you should look for. We apologize for having made you waste your precious time!
Hi everyone!.
We are so sorry about what happened to the Principal. She should has watched the video about packing bags.We are so sure you are going to have a very good time there.I found some information about Standford on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standford, it was difficult to find out about Standford¨s village, because Standford is also the name of an important financial group which has been in the newspaper lately.

IN THE PLANE

AT PETERBOROUGH MUSEUM

JUST ARRIVAL

Hi , Mariana Pineda's eveyone!

We have already lived one of our 15 British days, and, believe it or not, the whole team is already speaking English! and their teachers are very pleased with them.

The only problem was aimed to our Principal. We came to think Ryanair noticed that an important person was trying to break the law and get into the plane with two pieces of luggage. So, Julia was charged with an extra £30 (quid in slang), and our very narrow budget shrank even more!

Here you have some of our pictures of the day, so that you can see how happy we are.

Please, write something on the blog as soon as you can.

And, tomorrow....the story will continue...from Stamford. Who is able to find some English information on this place and hang it on the blog?
